What Daylight Commander and its Google Photos extension send over the network, and what stays on your computer.
Daylight Commander has no analytics or usage tracking. The files you open, copy, move, and delete are never reported to us.
Shortly after it starts, and every six hours while it runs, the app fetches a small file from dl.medialantern.com to see whether a newer version exists. The request carries nothing about you, your license, or your files. Our download server logs the path, time, result, and user agent of each request for up to a week, which is how we count downloads.
Starting the Pro trial sends your email address to licenses.medialantern.com, and we email you a link that starts it. Every request the app makes to that service, including the trial, activating a license key, and the check-in it makes when it launches and at least once a week, also carries a one-way hash of your computer's hardware ID, your computer's name, and the app version.
We keep your email address, your license, and the computers it is active on, which is how one license works on up to three of them. Trial links and license keys are emailed through Amazon SES.
Purchases go through Stripe, which handles your card details. We receive your email address and what you bought.
When you connect to a server or cloud storage, the app talks directly to that service. Passwords and keys are kept in the macOS Keychain and are never sent to us.
The companion extension runs in your own browser, in your own signed-in Google session. It talks only to photos.google.com and to Daylight Commander on your computer, over a local connection that other devices can't reach. Items download to your Downloads folder before the app files them where you asked. We never see your Google account, your photos, or your library.
Report a Problem opens an email in your own mail app with your app version and system details filled in, and nothing is sent until you send it.
Your preferences, bookmarks, saved connections, the rescue's list of items and its progress, and your license are kept in the app's folder in your user Library.
Questions about privacy go to support@medialantern.com. Daylight Commander is made by Media Lantern, Inc.
